Hello world! Welcome to my blog. My URL is based off my last name, Krein, which is pronounced “cry-ine”. Hence: forkreinoutloud! You get it. [Word play!] I recently quit Facebook and I’ve realized that I no longer have a place to share my oh-so interesting thoughts, announce when I’m bored or going on vacation with a house that’s free to rob, or post a daily selfie! So then I thought, why not write a blog? Well, that’s only partially true.
While I did stop actively using Facebook approximately 6 months ago, the idea to have a blog came from my boss/would-be-lost-without-her-there-with-me friend Brandy! Also, even when I was actively using Facebook, I made it a point not to post frequent selfies or announce when I was going out of town. That’s just silly… Brandy says I make her laugh and that I should have a blog. “No…that’s not something I should do…” I thought. But then one day I wrote a rant in a Word document about why I like that I’ve stopped using Facebook. At that point, I felt like that was the only real blog-ish topic that I had, so I didn’t really want to start a blog.
As time went on, and I read books by some of my favorite funny gals (Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, and Mindy Kaling), I started to think more seriously about starting one. I realized that I was interested in everything they had to say in their books — from what they were like in high school to what it was like to work on SNL. Granted, they are famous. But still! I just know that I like to read about times when people who are famous, or people who aren’t, have had similar experiences.
I am 28 years old, single, and living on my own! Oh, and I have a job that I enjoy in a field that I’m actually interested in. Life right now is going pretty well. As I write this, I’m sitting in my cozy backyard, jamming to some beachy country tunes (I call ’em beachy because it’s country that talks about taking it easy, kicking back with a glass of something and of course, something to do with water) while drinking some sparkling berry lemonade from Trader Joe’s mixed with raspberry vodka. Mmmm…happy Thursday to me. 🙂
Before coming out here to write my first blog, I came across a post about why it’s awesome to live on your own. Most of the points were true, but I realized that this was also a great topic for me to write about — if I had a blog. So, why the heck not? They’re free. I can make it public or private. And now I can put all my dear diary moments online for the world to see — or just whomever I share this with. My first post title is a quote from one of my favorite shows. Can you name which one? Because of the ability to binge watch shows on platforms like Netflix, I will usually watch a show (usually comedy) from pilot to finale — and then find myself re-watching it again and again later. Usually on in the background as I go about doing things around the house or just before bed. I have insomnia and watching shows that I’ve seen so many times (Friends) as I’m trying to go to bed really helps me out sometimes. I don’t even have to see it to know what’s happening so I am free to close my eyes and go to sleep. I like to mention this because I’ve found great conversation topics with people that I hardly know and know very well based on our love for similar TV shows. What shows am I talking about? Let’s see, there’s…Friends, Community, Scrubs, Parks & Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock, Bob’s Burgers, Brooklyn 99, The Mindy Project, How I Met Your Mother, The Goldbergs, Cougar Town, Modern Family, New Girl, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia…and well, that’s all I can think of. All of the show’s I’ve seen from start to finish at least once.
Based on what I just wrote, I don’t know if anyone will have any interest in what I have to say. However, it will likely be a great place for me to post random rants, deep thoughts, deeply random thoughts, or images of crafty things I’ve made, events I’ve hosted or new recipes I’ve tried! Or, maybe…just maybe…will this be the one and only time that I actually write anything. We shall see!
